The Legacy Project

THE LEGACY PROJECT
The Charlotte County Seniors Resource Centre launched a pilot project last year called The Legacy Project. The vision behind this intergenerational project was to connect a high school student with a senior in the community to create a meaningful legacy book documenting the senior’s life.
Through the use of technology, storytelling, and shared memories, the project aimed to foster connection between generations. The Centre reached out to clients and a current volunteer if they would be willing to participant, and Dalma French, a local resident of St. Andrews, answered the call. Our dedicated volunteer, Elisa Gaudette, also stepped forward, and from there, something truly special unfolded.
Over the course of several meetings, Dalma and Elisa reminisced, shared stories, and built a unique bond. In an incredible discovery, they even found out they were 10th cousins, three times removed! This project beautifully demonstrates how spending time together can create lasting connections across generations. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Dalma and Elisa for being the pioneers of this initiative. Their willingness to participate has shown us the power of storytelling and intergenerational relationships, paving the way for future projects like this.
